Ministation 30/40 x 140/160

Příspěvekod MartinS » úte 16 srp, 2022 6:30 pm

Ahoj, I'm Martin from Saxony (more precisely from the Ore Mountains). I don't speak Czech. But I'm interested in designing a model railway with Czech motifs. I already have some ideas, the space for the H0 scale station should have be a maximum of 40 x 160 cm. Not a lot of space, but it should be enough for a small train station (possibly with a locomotive station). I'm thinking of small train stations like Kameničky or Zacler. Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

OK, pls try to specify more in detail your idea. At least an epoch, intended rolling stock and likes.

With H0 you have complicated your situation from the very beginning: I consider 160 cms too short for that scale, especially if you need to squeeze in the limit both a visible part of the layout and a backstage. But you may like to have a cameo type layout with only a part of the station visible: try to check for example MIBA 03/2015, pages 29 ff. - the article Eine Bühne für magische Motive.

Referring to the real Czech stations: Even the shortest ones are too long for your length limit. In this thread
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11341&hilit=star%C3%A9+m%C4%9Bsto
we discussed in detail an H0 double-segment layout depicting one of the shortest Czech railway stations, Staré Město pod Sněžníkem (until 1945 Mährische Altstadt): A running line 70 m and a loop 100 m long, max. train length allowed 57 m. The colleague finally needed - using reasonably reduced track lengths - altogether 220 cms in H0 for a visible layout part + approx. 90 cms for a backstage.

Or you could show up a "residual" Czech station from the present. This one

kounice.jpg

or another one

loket_predm.jpg

are examples of real stations operated in Czechia after the rampage of the Railway Infrastructure Administration at the turn of the century. Any of them would fit in your 160 cms easily...

Well, the last proposal is an attempt at a joke... Anyway, try to reconsider once again.
... i my dědci ještě můžeme být všelijak užiteční...
Es ist viel später als du denkst.

Some of the shortest stations were built on the earliest local lines by the Österreichishe Lokaleisenbahngesellschaft (ÖLEG) in the 1880s. If you're only trying to squeeze in the section from the first points to the end of the headshunt and you're fine with the usual 2/3-1/2 length reduction that would be common on a small layout like this, you should be able to fit the Kouřim station (226m from the first point to the buffer stops), or the very interesting station from Žleby (about 250m) pretty easily without too much of a compromise :)

If you are interested in Czech motifs, also focus on the use of "correct" buildings. You can find a large selection of typical buildings (especially from the Austro-Hungarian period, which still exist today) here: https://www.kb-model.eu/ (unfortunately, the site is only in Czech, but Google is our friend :D ).

Hi Martin, welcome here!

I agree with with colleagues above, please specify more details, especially model era/epoch.

As well as Fox I prefer KB-model for buildings, good is also Igramodel.

My size is TT, I have no experience with H0. I usually say "Less is sometimes more". So if I can advice you, focus on layout with 2 track only. You will get more space for landsape and many details around the station, which mostly makes realistic model.

For example, there is a layout designed by our guru Milan Ferdian. It is called Líny and its in TT. But I think the left side of the layout could by a good possibility for you ;).

Hello, of course typical buildings should be on the layout. Wooden goods shed, locomotive shed with water tower + reception building in yellow/white (self-made based on Auhagen parts). That a train station can be replicated 1:1 is not possible with this little space. However, typical elements of a lokálka should be present. 140 or 160 cm are without backstage. "Nemerow Bad" or "Von Altwarnow nach Neukloster" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCOqfaRRqyE) are possible at this space, so also a czech station.

Those are my plans for the epoch (I don't own any vehicles in brackets yet, but would they match the motif?):

Epoch 3
422 Brawa
(310 self-made based on Fleischmann Prussian T3, much better for lokálka than Brawa 422!)
T435 Malý Hektor
(T466 Pielstick)
(M131.1 Hurvínek selfmade, indispensable!)
(self made Věžák)

Epoch 5
810
742 for freight trains
(maybe 820)

I know the track plan from Verneřice (https://www.zubrnickazeleznice.cz/post/ ... e%C5%99ice) and Vysoké Veselí.

I am sorry for the picture, if you dont see it as Dovi (I have no problem on pc and phone).
Bellow is the second layout.

Treeway tournout is not common in Czech, but there are some exceptions. I understand that it saves space...
