Sorry to barge in in English, but I have booked flights and hotels to show the lines to a friend from the UK at the end of August! Is it likely the line will still be open then?

We were visiting the CD run line first and one at Kolin last, but the main reason for coming was to visit the JHMD as this is what we model!

hobby: Legal procedures usually do not work that quickly in this country... On the other hand, you should not postpone your trip. The situation is messy and no one dares forecast a result.

"Fingers crossed" as we say in England! The purpose of the trip was to show Dave (a narrow gauge modelling friend) both of the 760mm lines that still have a daily passenger service so we will be very disappointed if it shuts before we get there!

hobby: I do not believe they are allowed to shut before the end of the summer vacations being the source of their highest yearly turnover (here in Czechia July 1 - August 31.) Moreover, they must observe something we call here in Czechia "the obligation of the public service" being partly paid from public funds and it is not simple to get rid of that. On the other hand, they declared an intention to sell some engines but (1) it is not clear whether the court would allow them to sell the engines being a part of the property to be used to cover creditors´receivables, (2) they would like to sell them to a foreign country and in this case also customs authorities might block the sales.

Thank you for the information. We are flying out on 29 August and have book a hotel in Ostrava so we can see the steam special on the 760mm line up there. We had intended to go to the JHMD on September 1st to see the "normal" running. So, with luck, that should still be running unless they use a bus instead?

I will just have to hope that it's ok.

Good luck... The only thing I can do for you now is to inform you via this forum if/as soon as anything changes. As for me, I believe you will see the ordinary workday traffic w/o seasonal steam trains, this year´s last summer season day is August 31.

Thanks, Hank, I will keep my eye on this thread. We wanted to see the ordinary workday train. My only concern is that they decide to replace the trains with buses!

The JHMD insolvency proceedings were today 31. 07. stopped. The main creditors took their motions back. Probably JHMD paid their debts to the main three creditors or came to another out-of-court settlement.

Insolvenční řízení s JHMD bylo dnes 31. 07. zastaveno. Hlavní věřitelé vzali své návrhy zpět. JHMD pravděpodobně zaplatily své dluhy třem největším věřitelům nebo dospěly k jiné mimosoudní dohodě.

That's good news! I only hope they decide NOT to run those stupid rebuilds of the Polish railcars when we go over!
