Rather a long gap! I have shown my layout at several shows in England over 2015 and it has gained many complements, but for me I have not been happy with it, especially the end "castle" board. So i decided that i would build another!
The new one uses the same left hand board but replaces the station board and adds two new boards with a flat trackbed but undulating scenery. I have decided to change the location, this one being based on the line to Osoblaha but imagining that a private company has taken it over and it runs in a similar way to the JHMD! The stations and locations on the new layout are completely fictitious though.
The plan:
The old layout also used Marklin and Peco track which didn't look right. I looked at the TTe offerings from Germany, Shapeways and DKModel but they all look very expensive so I decided to build my own! The track uses Peco Code 60 rail on copper clad sleeper strip and although time consuming to make looks much better. Originally I soldered every sleeper but now I do every other one and make some wooden ones to fill the gaps from wooden coffee stirrers. The three points have been made by a friend who handbuilds his 009 (HOe)track. The track round the back is still Marklin as this works just fine.
The three new boards:
The Rapeseed field and farm crossing:
This disused station based on Koberno:
It has it's first show on Sunday so I am hoping it behaves itself. The station board will just be plain track as I don't have time to finish it.
